A Georgia native, artist Joan Prince Exley moved to
the Low Country in 1981, where she instantly fell in
love with everything that makes Savannah; the ocean, the
marshland and all the beauty of the coastal area.
This
scenery inspired Joan to follow her natural instinct to
begin painting the landscapes to capture the beauty of
the coastal areas.
Taking time out to raise her family a daughter and
son, Joan did consignment work, capturing memories that
would last a lifetime on canvas for clients, family and
friends.
In 2005, Joan retired and wanting to escape city
living, she and her husband moved to Springfield, a
small town just north of Savannah, GA. Joan was now able
to pursue her love for painting and began to paint full
time.
Joan specializes in oil paintings that capture the
beauty of the ocean, marshland and local beach areas.
She has also completed many paintings of local churches
and historical sites. Several of Joan’s paintings can be
seen throughout Effingham County in local restaurants
and government buildings.
When she is not painting, Joan enjoys spending time
with her children and grandchildren. She also
enjoys traveling, and her travels include Germany,
Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. She is very active in
the community as well as her church. Joan is
currently teaching Art at the Covenant Christian School
in Springfield.
Joan now invites you to go to the
